The Ref’s have informed us they can’t have a game go after 8pm b/c of sunlight issues. Therefore the games will start earlier than before for these last two weeks. Sorry all, but at least we get to play the game we love and didn’t have any BYE weeks. (We’ve got a good solution for it all for next year’s Outdoor.) Halftime is just a chance for the goalies to switch goals and start play again – no break.
For those of you who dealt with this last year, sorry again, we thought we would make it, but at least we’re not playing outside in the middle of October like last year – HA!

Remember, Field and Gametime changes this week 8/24
Due to the loss of daylight and one field at COSA we are adjusting. All games are 5 minutes shorter and the halftime break is simply a chance to switch ends of the field and begin again immediately. The 6pm games still start at 6pm. The 7pm games start at 6:55! The 8 pm games start at 7:50pm.
Also we've lost one of COSA's fields for the remainder of the season. We'll be playing on 2 fields at James D. Casto park. The near field we've already been playing on is now called Casto 1 and the far field is called Casto 2.
Parking at Casto is limited. Iron Pony is allowing us to park behind their building as long as we don't park in the way of their delivery trucks path. So please use good judgement when parking.
There is add'l parking for the far field. If you stay on Rt.3 going south and turn left at the light just past Iron Pony parking lot that road dead ends into about 12 parking spots if you park on the side of the road and the abandoned parking lot.
thanks for bearing with the changes,
Jamie

We're at Breathe Festival this weekend...
New Players, we'll email you the team's info once we figure out which teams need players the most. You'll be playing on Monday, shinguards are required. We'll have a team t-shirt for you at the registration tent, but always bring a white shirt and a dark shirt to the games w/you.
ALL Players, we'll have a ROSTER and SCHEDULE for everyone by the end of next week. We'll email everyone and post it on the blog, please tell your teammates for us too.
We have 2 new teams this season. We'll have an early game at Casto to allow for all teams to play each week and NOT have any BYE weeks. In September, we may be forced to use the extra field at Casto to play on, so take a look at it now and see where parking is and how to get to it.
We'll have Saturday soccer pick up games starting in August. We have small goals now to use so we won't have to worry about having goalies or not.
comments or suggestions or questions?
look for it on the blog and then if you can't find it, email jluttrel@insight.rr.com. If it's about schedule and which team you're on, WAIT till we publish it.
thanks,
VFC Board

Registration for Summer Season #2 is Open!
We've opened the Registration for Season #2 early b/c of so much demand already.
This season we DON'T have to sign a seperate Medical Waiver form, it's been combined with the Registration form. Hooray!
Registration Deadline is July 20th. Late Fees apply.
All players must pay and register before they step on the field of play.
New Players: We want to welcome you to the league! However please verify that there's room on the teams before you sign up. You verify this by emailing Jamie at jluttrel@insight.rr.com or by getting 'permission' from a team Captain. We allow "Reserve Players" to sign up and play for any team that needs help each night, but most likely we'll place you on a team so you can enjoy the community of team play.
New Teams: We have room to add on 2 more teams to the league, but please verify it with Jamie first. Each team must have at least 2 Beginner/Level 1 players on the Roster and playing most games. And each team must have at least 2 Female players on the field at all times. There are no trophies nor recognition for winning, just a fun organized recreational league.
Monday nights, July 27th - Sept. 28th = 9 Weeks of play (break week for Labor Day Sept. 7th). We plan on the 9th week as a tournament week like Season #1.
Price is $35, it stayed the same price so that we can donate any 'extra' funds to the Youth Soccer Leagues that desperately need it. If scholarships are needed please email the request to Jamie at Jluttrel@insight.rr.com and the Vfc Board will review it. Late Registration (after July 20th) is $50 per registrant, so don't wait!

You gotta come to BREATHE festival this year!
Check out their website and the videos at breathefestival.org.
If you're looking for someone to camp with, come camp with Jamie Luttrell and his group, we have plenty of gear, tents and food. We'd love to have you camp with us. It's so much fun.
If you can't make the whole weekend, you can come daily too. Our group consists of young adult, coed, singles and marrieds with and w/o kids. We head up there (30 minutes away) on Friday and stay till Sunday 1pm-ish. email jamie jluttrel@insight.rr.com
What is Breathe Festival?
Breathe is an outdoor festival hosted by Joshua House, the twenty-something community of Vineyard Columbus. Each summer hundreds of people from all over gather together in a field to worship God, pray for each other, grow in in their faith, listen to great bands, sleep under the stars, and have a blast with their friends. This year, Breathe takes place on July 17-19 at Heartland Retreat Center, situated about 30 mintues north of Columbus, OH. Click here for directions and map.
It doesn't matter who you are or where you are coming from-you are welcome at Breathe 2009! The campground is full of single people, married couples, and families with kids! Each year people come who don’t know a soul, so don't worry about coming alone; we'll connect you to a small group's campsite and introduce you to some great new friends!
Come if you want to experience the most raw kind of relationships there are: fresh air, grungy, sleeping-in-tents style community that you can't get anywhere but in a campground filled with you and hundreds of your new best friends. So, come because you love to camp out and eat s'mores. Come because you want to encounter God in a powerful way. Come because you want to be changed by Jesus. Come to Breathe!
hope to see you there,
jamie

Pick-up soccer game at Casto Sat. 23rd, 10am-1130
We know you're all bummed we don't play this next week (Memorial Day wkd), so let's get together this coming Saturday and play some pick-up games at Casto Park! 10am-1130am, bring a white shirt and a dark shirt, ball, water and wear your shinguards.
Invite your friends too, it's open to anyone.
For all you newer players, this will be great time to teach you some of the details of the game. We can have some training and practice on the side and during the pick-up game (ex. how to defend a corner kick). Some of our Level 5 players will be on hand to help coach you.
And depending on the turnout, we're thinking of making Saturday mornings a practice/pick-up game time for the league at Casto throughout the summer.
let us know how much interest you have in playing on Saturday mornings,
Vfc Board
Games begin again June 1st and will start as scheduled 6:15, 7:15 and 8:15. We'll have enough daylight to start em' later and give you a little more time to get to the games from work or dinner.

Answers to your OUTDOOR questions, so far...
5. When will Iknow what team I'm on. Don't expect to know until after April 20th Registration deadline. If you've selected a preferred team, you'll most likely be on it. If you didn't select a team, you're considered a "reserve Player" until you're notifiied which team you fit on best. Check the blog after April 20th for your name on the Team lists (right side of page).
4. Why we ask for your cellphone number? We provide it to the Captains in case of last minute game cancellations or changes and they need to get in touch with you.
1. ONLINE PAYMENT is best! If you can't pay online or by credit card, you'll have to work out payment with your Captain and have the money turned in to Vineyard Church by April 20th.
OR you can drop off a check to the Vineyard Columbus Church 9-4:30pm Monday-Friday. Make the check out to "Vineyard Community Center", and in the Comments put "outdoor soccer". The checks go to Dawn Stickel, admin for VCC and be sure she knows who the check is paying for (put your name on it, or on the envelope).
2. OPEN GYM SCHEDULE:
April 13th 8:00pm-9:30pm and April 20th 8:00pm - 9:30pm. Games will be small teams, short games, winners stay on for an extra game then take a break.
Wear flat shoes, no cleats. Vfc Board members will be there to collect medical waiver forms.
Captains meeting on 13th, 6:30pm-7:30pm.
3. Unsure of your skill level, be humble and put the lower choice instead of the higher choice. It's not that critical, just gives us an idea of how even the teams are. If you're top 25 players though, then put it on there so we'll know.
Registration is now OPEN!!
1. Each player must register themselves online and pay online at vineyardcommunitycenter.org
2. Each player must print out the Medical Waiver form, sign and return by April 20th.
-the form is printable once you register online
-you can turn it in directly to the Vineyard Church Info Desk or bring it to Open Gym nights on the 13th and 20th.
ALL REGISTRATION MUST BE COMPLETED BY APRIL 20TH. GAMES START ON APRIL 27TH, THEREFORE IT IS NOT A REGISTRATION NIGHT.
3. Captains Meeting for all Captains/Co-Captains is on Monday, April 13th at 6:30pm. Attendance is mandatory, we'll be discussing new rules, team responsibilities, etc. IF you have any questions, email Jamie BEFORE April 13th.
4. Teams are filling up quick so get registered to guarantee your spot on your preferred team. We have room for another 2-4 teams.
Questions? Search the blog first, then email jamie at jluttrel@insight.rr.com
thanks,

Vfc Substitution rule removed for Indoor Play...
The Vfc Board made an almost unanimous decision to waive any substitution rules except for the 2- girl rules that Allstars requires. This means that you can use any players from any of the League's teams no matter what the skill level AND your team doesn't need to have a certain number of original players in order to not Forfeit. Why? We're afraid a lot of teams may have problems with players missing games b/c they're starting much later than the 8:00 and 8:50pm PROMISED start times. We also didn't want to make it hard for Captains to find more players when they need them. We're trying to keep it simple in a league where the standings don't matter. We also want our focus to be community building, fun recreation and Christ centered instead of Rule- Centered.
In all fairness, if your team needs players, pick up some sub's, just try to not stack a team so we don't have lopsided demoralizing slaughters - HA!
If you have any comments, please feel free to let us know, you can reply to all if you want.
Please Communicate this to your team however you want. I, Jamie, promise not to send so many emails like I had to during Outdoor =) Just check the blog.
Thank You and Happy Soccer,
Vfc Board - Ken, Katie, Michelle, Casey, Chris, Jamie, Kerry, Susannah
If any other players are considered Captains/Co-Captains let me have their email and I can send them updates when needed.

Special Allstar rules..
Allstars rules:
- Completed games are not subject to being protested. The protest must be made at the time of the suspected
violation. All protests should be made before the game starts.
- Players can not be added to a roster after the 3rd game of the season.
- Boarding, propelling an opponent into the perimeter wall. A time penalty must be assessed for boarding. Usually 2 minute penalty
• The five-second rule starts when the ball is placed on the restart spot. YOU HAVE 5 SECONDS TO KICK THE BALL IF THE BALL WAS OUT OF BOUNDS OR A PENALTY WAS AWARDED, ETC.
• The ball must be three feet off the wall for re-started kicks. Corner kicks are to be placed on the dot.
• The distance on free kicks that a defending team has to give a re-started kick is 10 feet.
• All kicks are direct.
• No SLIDE TACKLING.
Best definition of HANDBALL we can find:
Strangely, the term "Hand Ball" is commonly used, but is not defined in the official FIFA rules. It is a "direct kick foul" if a player (other than the goalkeeper inside his own penalty area) deliberately handles the ball (meaning to deliberately touch the ball with any part of the arm from the finger tips to the top of the shoulder). If the player handles it for the purpose of preventing an opponent from gaining possession, it is a "cautionable offense" and a yellow card should be given. If a player deliberately handles the ball to deny an obvious goal scoring opportunity (e.g., to prevent a breakaway or to deliberately stop a shot), a red card should be given and the player "sent off". However, a hand ball foul should not be called if: (1) a player is instinctively trying to protect himself from injury or (2) the player did not deliberately touch the ball but the ball hit his arm & he did not move the arm toward the ball (however, if the player's arms were in an unnatural position such as above his shoulders or sticking out to the sides, then he should be called for a handball).

Indoor League Schedule and Rules
That being said, the below link will connect you to All Stars' league schedule page. Here you can find the link to the PDF that has all the games times for the entire season. It will also contain the win/loss/tie record for each team. You will find our schedule on the right side of the screen listed as Coed Vineyard League. When you arrive at All Stars, there will be a whiteboard with what field you will be playing on listed. Field 1 is the nearest field to the doors, Field 2 is the farthest.
http://www.allstarsfsec.com/leagues.asp
REMEMBER:
1. Each team will need to field 4 men and 2 women as well as a goalie (man or woman) for a grand total of 7 people on the field. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TWO WOMEN, you must play down one or two depending if you have any women at all. Please feel free to search for subs from other teams but they MUST be registered with a team in our league. Unlike the outdoor league, you will not automatically lose if you are down women.
2. Please wear shinguards, in close quarters, there can be a lot of untinentional chopping at the legs for the ball.
3. Please remember that it is the Vineyard Columbus Church League so keep it clean and friendly. Competition is great but remember that there are a variety of ability levels so keep a cool head. It takes everyone to make a great league.
4. Please show up a little early if you can make it. The games start promptly so if you are not there, the game will start without you.
5. The same page also lists the rules and regulations of All Stars, please read them
6. Please no gum or chew on the fields, they will kick you out if they catch you.
7. Team Captains, please make sure that everyone on your team has signed the roster and injury waiver. You can find them at the food counter when you walk in. Tell them what league you are in and then your team name, they will give it to you.
8. If there is anything else, we will post it here. Everyone have fun.

Indoor games schedule tonight10/13
Due to all the changes in the last week or two, everything is crazy right now. Here's the game schedule for tonight.

Here's the schedule for tonight. Bring your fees in to pay your Captain or you don't get to play.

Solid Indoor League Information...
I met with AllStars yesterday and checked out the facility to try to get all the details I could for all of us to make it an easy transition.
Here’s what I’ve found out:
1. The Indoor season is now only 9 weeks plus holidays breaks and ends in January. We can have a 2nd season if we want in February.
2. The Price of Indoor now is $795 per team that works out to $66.25 for 12 players. Allstar must have $400 one week before the start of the season. So $400 is due on Oct. 6th and a the remaining $395 due on Oct. 13th. They only accept 2 payments so you must pay one person on your team probably your Captain and have him/her write the two checks. They also take credit cards, but only two payments per team. Captains, you’ll need to collect the funds and send it to Allstars. We decided to go the cheaper route instead of 13 weeks. Allstarsfsec.com
3. October 13th will be a pick up day for your team. You’ll be scheduled to play against another team, however it won’t count towards the standings. There’s no trophy for the winners of the league.
4. The Field is AWESOME!!! I love it. It feels like a well groomed grass field, but it’s actually Field Turf. You can wear cleats if you want but I recommend wearing your Indoor shoes. If you don’t have Indoor shoes and don’t want to buy any, it’s perfectly fine to wear your cleats. The Field is so sweet!! There are 2 fields with Warm-up areas on the players benches side of the field. There are plenty of bleachers and tables for spectators to comfortably watch the games. The facility has games, batting cages, snack bar and Lounge, etc. There is also a small field to practice on if available.
5. Schinguards are required, NO SLIDETACKLING ALLOWED. Ref’s give out Blue cards for certain offenses which put the player in a 2 minute penalty box.
6. Games are 24 minute halves, they start on time, the clock never stops from the end of one game to the beginning of the next game. So be ontime!
7. Yes, there is a tournament included in our 9 week season.
8. We have 5 solid teams so far which means one team will have a BYE week or scrimmage a mix of players. We’re hoping to get 1-3 more teams though in the next week so let us know if anyone else wants to play.
9. Substitution Rule – If you are an advanced level player (level 3), you can only play for another team in our league if they are missing an advanced level player. The only exception is if other team says it’s okay. During the Tournament, you cannot use another player that’s not on your team unless it’s okay with the other team. Penalty for this offense is forfeited game b/c it’s like using an illegal player. Captains, try to work it out with the other team whenever possible.
10. Schedule and standings will be on the website allstarsfsec.com and the Vineyardfc.blogspot.com if possible.
Directions to Allstar? Check the website, We’ll be passing them out to players in the next two OUTDOOR league games. Otherwise, I-71 to 161 (go west), right turn Busch Blvd (Bob Evans), First right turn at light Atlantic Ave. follow it past the apartments, BIG white building on your left.
11. CAPTAINS :
1. Give us a team name if you don’t have one and a team color. These colors are already taken: white, dark green, red, orange.
2. T-shirts, always bring a white and a dark t-shirt (NOT GRAY shirts). We have penny’s you can borrow if you arrange it early enough. Also if your team doesn’t have a t-shirt from the Outdoor league, we may have some extras laying around. Ask Jamie about it.
3. You must fill out 2 Forms – 1. Immediately go to Allstarsfsec.com and fill out the Registration Form with your contact info on it. The league is VineyardFC league. 2. On Oct. 13th, have each individual player sign in on the Team Roster and sign the waiver on the back of the form.
12. TEAM ROSTERS KEEP CHANGING – as new players are added, we have to switch some individuals around so everyone can play with their friends. Please keep checking the blog vineyardfc.blogspot.com for the changes. Once you’ve paid you are on that team and won’t change anymore. Attached is the latest Team Roster.
Email us with anymore questions. Review the rules and info for Allstars at allstarsfsec.com
Check the blog for the latest.
See ya Oct. 13th 8:00pm – all teams need to show up by 7:45pm even if you’re not playing yet so we can finalize all the registration stuff.

Games start at 6:00 and 6:45pm
We'll have to start the games at 6:00 and 6:45pm from now on and only have 20 minute halfs.
So tell your teammates and be ready to play right at 6:00pm.
If the game starts late, for example 6 minutes late, then the halfs will be 3 minutes shorter.
Sorry everyone, we'll know better next year and finish the season earlier or have more fields to play all the games at 6:00pm. Please forgive us.
It's been a great 5.5 months of soccer!!

Indoor starts Oct. 13th, Monday 8:00pm
Our season starts the same night that outdoor ends. Our first Indoor games will be at 8:00pm and 8:50pm. We had no choice in starting dates b/c All star can't guarantee our times if we don't start on the 13th.
Registration is done at Allstars by your Captains. Each board member has "adopted" 2 teams each to help your Captains get the team organized. On the blog is a link to the Registration Form for Captains to fill out. Some of the info is incorrect b/c we're doing a 13 week season ending in February and the team price is $975. Captains you'll need to turn in the money by the first game.
We have lots of room for new players so invite your friends to play Indoor.
If you're not on a team, let us know so we can put you on one.
thanks,
Vfc Board

8 player minimum or Fofeit issue
If your team does not have 8 players (one of which must be a girl) on the field by game start or at least by end of first half, the game is considered a forfeit. Your team can add on players from the league and the game can be played, but the results go as a loss for your team and a win for the opponent.
This rule was brought in after 1st season because alot of teams who had great attendance and participation were getting beat by teams that had poor attendance and 'stacked' their team with all the advance level players from other teams. It's meant to be fair to those who work hard and get their teams there and on-time, at the start of the game.
Unfortunately, I cannot find evidence of us posting this rule in the many emails we've sent out.
If you have any questions or conflicts with this let us know. Next year, we'll all know and it will be posted.
Sorry for all the confusion it may have caused,

Game Times have changed 30minutes earlier!!
Therefore all the games' start times have been moved up to earlier starts.
From now on the games will start at 6:15 and 7:15.
The schedule will change again as we lose daylight so ALWAYS check the blog for the most accurate times!
Sept. 29th, the game times will change again assuming we don't have enough light to play, so those games will start at 6:00 and 7:00 pm.
We're doing the best we can to allow you time to get to the fields after work.
Please let your teammates know about the changes and we'll see you in two weeks.
P.s. the t-shirts are coming in two weeks, there was a mistake in our Graphic Arts dept. Sorry!!

Good games tonight!
Tonight, try to complement your teammates and even the other team during the game, no matter if you're winning or losing.
Game times will be starting earlier after our break next week for Labor day, so check the blog.
Halftimes are shortened now to 2 minutes just to get some water. We're trying to get the games finished before it gets too dark to see the ball, so be ready for just a quick break.
Captains, let us know if you want to play Indoor and if any of your teammates want to play. It looks like we have enough interest to do a coed recreational Indoor League at All-Star's facility on rt.161 and Busch Blvd. Details to come.
We got some rain, maybe the fields won't feel like running on a table top tonight!

Wanna play Indoor Soccer this winter??
We don’t know which night we’d play on, The price will be anywhere from $40-$75 depending on team size, The location would be All Star Indoor on Busch Road and Rt. 161, (the old Continent area). We’d probably do 8 teams so it’d last about 9 weeks. Don’t know when it would start yet. Captains would be responsible to All Star Indoor to pay for team, we’d use their ref’s and scheduling system, they play 6 vs 6 plus goalies, you can use cleats on their indoor surface, but the league would be run by Vfc. You can bring your own team or we’ll put you on one.
We gotta have your response if you want to play by next week so we’d know how many teams we can put together. We have to Reserve the time slots in the next 2 weeks. So Please let us know if it’s a real possibility that you’d want to play.
Thanks,
Vfc Board

Soccer Fields have moved to #2 and #3
The other fields are being shrunk to kids size fields.
The answer for Competitive Jealousy is to CELEBRATE the other's accomplishments. Even when your team is losing, even when you're having a bad game, still acknowledge the others accomplishments by simply saying "good shot" or "good run". It's a liberating feeling when you don't let Jealousy overcome you. That's what Champions are made of.
Celebrate!

Let's play soccer!
There are some players who haven't Paid their fees yet. If you're one of them, you can't step on the field until you've paid them.
How do you pay your fees?
You must send them into Vinyard Church of Columbus by today. Their office is open until 5pm and you can drop it off at the front desk. Tell them it's for Joshua House soccer league and they'll know who to give it to. GIVE them your NAME too.
at the games, you might find a board member to give them too, but their volunteer work of running registration is over and they just want to play soccer. So YOU need to find a way to get the funds in and not put it on the Board members.
tonight's weather looks great, good games everyone
Remember Character on the field in a pressure situation shows your character you'll have in any situation off the field. Show true character tonight - no dangerous aggression, no foul mouths, substitute evenly and have fun.

2. ALL $$ IS DUE NEXT MONDAY OR YOU DON’T PLAY. PLEASE DON’T MAKE JAMIE AND THE 5 BOARD MEMBERS TRY TO FIND YOU IN A PILE OF 170 PLAYERS. SEND IT IN.
3. All the funds go toward the fields, ref’s, Gold socks awards, tshirts and equipment. There’s no cash prize at the end. The Vfc Board members are all volunteers and aren’t paid. The price works out to $3/game, that’s really cheap – won’t find that anywhere else in Columbus.
4. Start times – Games must start on time. If there’s a delay, the referees just shorten your first half to make up for it. Please be on the fields at the first whistle (1 minute warning) b/c the other team will score a lot of goals if you’re not there.
5. BYE weeks (which means your team doesn’t play) start this next Monday. If your team is on a BYE week and you still want to play, come on out b/c you can play on any team if they need players.
6. SPORTSMANSHIP – is something we all need to work on. It includes picking up the trash around your field, setting up/tearing down your nets – stuff you don’t normally think about. It also means apologizing when you foul and SUBSTITUTING out for a 5 minute break to help you calm down. Remember, we all want to go to work tomorrow, so take it easy and maybe ease up on the aggressive challenges.
-----a. Referees do have the right to send you off the field with a “Blue Card” which is a 5 minute penalty on your team and they play one man down for 5 minutes.
-----b. Substituting EVERYONE once per half means you only sit out for 5 minutes, that’s all. You can watch the other team and strategize while your getting some water, then come in and be your team’s hero that you always wanted to be. HA!
7. T-shirts are on order so if you don’t have one, they’ll be here soon.
8. Check the blog every Monday afternoon for news. Referees are the only ones who will cancel a game and that’s at the fields if the weather is bad.
9. Schedule changes as the sun goes down earlier so games start earlier and are subject to change if we don’t have enough light.
Please give us your suggestions and ideas to make this a better league, we’re doing our best.

New layout for Game Schedule
Game Schedule layout. Read it linear-ly now instead of vertically/column.
Example:
-July 28
6:45pm: SMF vs BGR / Kfc vs TGo
7:45pm: MAC vs SAD / TSW vs Blu
The 6:45 time slot refers to all the teams on its horizontal line
so SMF vs BGR and Kfc vs TGo both play at 6:45pm
The 7:45 time slot is the same
so MAC vs SAD and TSW vs Blu play at 7:45
Team 8 YoD has a bye week. Each team will have a BYE week at least once.
Field # changes...
and so it begins... 2nd season!!
Tonight starts our second season. We've got 9 teams and possibly a 10th team so the schedule is subject to change, but we've listed the first couple weeks on the blog.
Check for your name on a team and when your team plays (on the right side of the blog).
Registration is for everyone! Please check in at the table even if you've paid and filled out an application. We just want to be sure you're playing this 2nd season.
Captains, please check in with the Vfc Board for some of the changes that may take place. Also, bring your extra jerseys to give to your new teammates.
Girls rule - sorry it's been so confusing. Here's the jist of it.
9 guys and 2 girls = 11 players. If u don't have 2 girls, you can't replace them with guys. Only 9 guys on the field at one time.
Your team automatically forfeits if you don't have any girls play, but your team can still play that night for fun. If you bring only 1 girl, you still can only have 9 guys on the field at all times.
can't wait to play tonight,

If a team doesn't have two girls on the field at all times, they must play TWO men down.
If a team has only one girl on the field at all times, they must play only 5 men and the one girl.
This doesn't include the goalie, therefore you can only have 5 men field players and one man goalie at all times.

You gotta join us at Breathe Festival this July!!
Check out the website breathefestival.org and some of these funny videos for it.
http://breathefestival.org/pages/video.aspx
What is BreatheFestival? Watch the videos for the main info. It's a great time to camp out with around 800 young adults (18-30's), they have really nice/huge shower houses and flush toilets so you're not 'roughing it'. We camp in a big field, usually camping in what's called "small groups". Vfc board members Jamie, Ken, Katie, Chris, Susannah, Michelle will be camping in the same small group and you, ALL of you, are invited to camp with them if you don't have anyone else to camp with. We designate people to make one meal for the group so you don't have to cook all weekend, just cook with some others for one meal. We've got lots of tents, sleeping bags and all the gear you would need. Register before June 22nd and get the early bird price. There's a swimming pool, bball courts, and definitely a SOCCER TOURNEY ON SATURDAY. We split into 4-8 teams and play so bring your cleats (shinguards are not required). Families are welcome to so bring the kids if you want. There's some great teaching, worship, workshops, campfires, open mike night, slip n slides, hiking, reading, running, you name it.
If you've got any questions or are even remotely interested, please let one of us board members know, and email Jamie at jluttrel@insight.rr.com
Breathe is Friday through Sunday, July 18-20th, it's only about 30 minutes away.
Monday, May 12, 2008
How do you know if games are cancelled?
Games are only cancelled when there is lightning in the area of the game and the ref's make that call during the game. So if it's raining or muddy or cold, we'll still be playing. Just wear the right gear to help you stay warm and dry.
Tonight's games, 5/12 are still on.
Sunday, May 4, 2008
OUTDOOR starts tomorrow, May 5th
Yes, Tomorrow is our first game for the Outdoor league!
Please come early so you can check in.
If you still have fees to pay or app’s to turn in, please bring them to Joshua House tonight or in a last ditch effort, you can bring them on Monday, but come to the game 45 minutes early to be sure we can get you registered. If you want to bring in someone new who hasn’t registered, we may not have anymore room for them, but they can come and watch and maybe there will be room. PLEASE contact Jamie Luttrell before Monday night if you’ve got a new player (jluttrel@insight.rr.com)
Shinguards are required – you can get ‘em at Wal-mart or sports stores for about $10,
Soccer Cleats are highly recommended. You can find used ones at “play it again sports in Westerville and Worthington.
We’re playing on FIELDS #4 and #6
If you park in the Vineyard church’s parking lot, which you can for these leagues, The field on the far left (north end) is Field #6, then Field 4 is two to the right of it.
We, the Soccer Board, will be there with a small registration table, look for us in the parking lot next to field #4. That’s the North parking lot, or the smaller one of the two.
YOU MUST PAY AND HAVE THE MEDICAL INFO FILLED OUT AND SIGNED ON YOUR APPLICATION BEFORE YOU CAN SET FOOT ON THE FIELDS.
Bring: dark color shirt and a white shirt with you.
Be thinking of your team’s name and picking a team captain.
Bring Water,
See ya then,

The League is Full! Hooray!
We have a full 8 teams and each team is full of players. If you didn't get registered last weekend, you may not be able to play in our official league's season 1, BUT we will play p/u games during the week so keep checking this blog for those dates - they come randomly. And there's always season 2 in July and the Breathe tourney.
Registered players, we are working on the team rosters so be patient as we figure out how to balance the teams. Again, we'll try our best to put you with the teammates you want. The Rosters should be posted by thursday, May 1st.
Please bring in any last items you need to turn in BEFORE THE FIRST GAME on Monday may5th. We will be in the lobby again at Jhouse on Sunday, May4th and we'll be at the fields on Monday, however we won't have time to process all of you before the game starts so turn it in early. The best solution is to send it to the church, "attn: Dawn Stickel, Jhouse Soccer"
This includes fees, application forms signed and MEDICAL info filled out. No one can play until everything is completed on their forms, sorry.
can't wait to play monday!

How to Register and Pay your fees...
1. There are some very generic forms that you can get from the blog. go to vineyardfc.blogspot.com and look on the right column under Outdoor Season or the Soccer Links. You can upload the form then print it. You don't need to fill in the Activity ## or anything like that, just write "Jhouse Soccer" on those lines. The important stuff is the medical waiver and your signature on it. You'll have to carry it in or mail it in to the church: Vineyard Church of Columbus, 6000 Cooper Rd, Westerville, OH 43081.
2. Turn in your applications during church services to the Community Center Info Desk or if no one is there then your second best choice is the Church's Main Lobby Info desk and put "attn: dawn Stickel, Jhouse soccer" on it. I wouldn't turn your fees in w/o making sure they have a secure place to keep it until Dawn collects in on Monday!!
3. During the Joshua House service, We will have the soccer specific forms at the Joshua House services on sunday nights, just look for our table (we might not have any signs up but we'll be there).
4. If you have any questions about Application Forms or checking to make sure your fees were turned in you can call Dawn Stickel at Vineyard. Her number is 890-0000, ask for her.
5. Paying the fees - the church doesn't have a credit card machine to accept your payment via Credit Cards. If you pay by check (preferred), please make it out to "Vineyard Community Center", then on the Memo line put "Jhouse Soccer". You can also pay in cash, just make sure there's a note on it that has the names of people you're paying for when you give it to us. Otherwise we may end up buying a big fat Chipotle burrito with it and forget you paid already! HA! Just kiddin'
Once we have a signed application turned in we will put you on a team. Check the blog's list of teams to see if you're on it. Let us know who you want to play with too. We are trusting you will pay the fees before the first game (you can't play until you pay). If your name isn't on the teams list then we haven't received your signed application form. Please turn in your fees as soon as possible. If you don't pay before the first game, you won't be on a team and we can't let you play (Team Captains, you may want to show up with a blank check on the first game night so they can borrow from you)
thanks everyone, hope this helps,
Vfc Soccer Board

Level 1, 2, 3 Players Definitions:
Level 1 - "Beginner" = haven't played since middle school, have never played before, don't know what "Futbol" is, just wanna get my fat butt out and run!
Level 2 - "Intermediate or Average" = I played in high School, I'm badly out of shape, I know the game but my abilities are rusty, I know what a 4-3-3 formation is. Most of us are in this Level
Level 3 - "Advanced" = I played in college level soccer and beyond, I'm playing soccer all year long now, I'm in shape for running, I played Indoor all winter long, my skills are advanced compared to the teammembers I usually play with. I grew up in a foreign country therefore I played all the time and my avg is better than most Americans avg skills.
Team Rosters
We will mix the team between male and female players and Level 1 and Level 3 players, this is non-negotiable, sorry we want to keep it a recreational league for now.
Comment to this blog if you've got questions.

CAPTAINS NEEDED
If you want to be a Captain, let us know. We need them for Teams 4-8.
News 4/2
Please check the blog for the latest info about the league, games, teams, rules, etc.
At Vineyardfc.blogspot.com
Thanks for all who have turned in their applications – if you haven’t yet, you can get it online on the blog to fill out and send in to Vineyard Community Center
We are 95% sure the games will be on MONDAY nights, that’s what most of you requested instead of Friday nights.
May 5th will be our first game,
We have lots of room currently to fill all 8 teams so invite your friends and give us their emails. We could expand to 10 teams and remove the tourney at the end of the season.
WE WILL MIX THE TEAMS so that each team has some beginners and advanced players. So be ready to change some of your roster around if you’re all advanced players.
Cost is $25 up to April 20th, then it’s $30 afterwards until April 27th. THIS IS THE DEADLINE TO PLAY OUTDOOR SEASON 1 SOCCER (April 27th). Please help us by getting your app and money in EARLY. Thanks!
Shinguards are required, cleats are recommended and bring your soccer ball if you have one (size 5 – adult). Uniforms are dependent on your team’s choice. You may simply pick a color and wear the same color t-shirts. It’s a good idea to bring a white t-shirt with you also just in case.
We need Team Captains to help communicate to their teammates and to give us a team name, etc. If you would like to be a team captain please let us know.
THE MAIN SOURCE OF NEWS AND CHANGES TO THE GAMES WILL BE THROUGH THIS BLOG AND NOT PERSONAL EMAILS OR PHONE CALLS- the league is just too big. SO IF THE WEATHER IS BAD AND YOU'RE NOT SURE IF THE GAMES ARE CANCELLED PLEASE CHECK THE BLOG FIRST. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TIME YOUR TEAM IS PLAYING CHECK THE BLOG. WE WILL TRY TO UPDATE IT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
The league is for 18yr olds to 30 somethings but if you’re older it’s no big deal. However, we can’t have minors in the league, sorry youth =(
Let us know if you have any other questions (but check the blog first),
Thank you all, can’t wait till May!

Tournament rules - give us your opinion by commenting
At the end of Regular Season (7games playing all teams once), the Top 4 teams play each other with the winners playing each other the second week in a Championship game and losers get a Consolation game (the 3rd place game).
The Bottom 4 teams play each other with the winners playing each other the second week and losers get consolation game
Why? Usually in Recreational league play, the top teams are more experienced, attend all the games, etc whereas the bottom teams tend to not be as experienced, have lots of players absent for each game and end up borrowing players from other teams (which will be considered a Loss/Forfeit in the standings depending on how many they had to borrow). This way it's fair for the top 4 teams to get a small tourney in to see whose the champion and it also gives the bottom four a good tourney with equally skilled and attending teams.
**League Rules for Borrowing other players - they must be a part of this VFC league, signed the waiver and paid their fees in order for your team to borrow them. If the majority of your team that gameday is borrowed players, or more than 4 then your team can play but it's counted as a Loss/Forfeit in the league standings. This is so you can't borrow the best players and win every week with those not on your original team roster. --This can still be mediated by the Vfc Soccer Board until season starts, so if you disagree, please comment and contact us.

SCHINGUARDS are required to play
Also please bring your own water and soccer ball, we'll pick the best ones to play with.

Application Form for Outdoor
http://www.vineyardcommunitycenter.org/images/regform.pdf
On the form, you don’t need to fill in the “Activity or Service #” nor the activity time. The event begins May 1st and ends July 12th, and the fee is $30/$25 earlybird (make checks out to Vineyard Community Center)
The Price for the Outdoor league, first season (may – July) will be $30. Early bird price of $25 if turned in by April 20th. This cost pays for the referees and any gear needed to facilitate the games.
We will fill out team rosters and team names once everyone has registered and paid. We’ll do our best to put you on the team you prefer with the players you want, however we won’t allow any one team to be stacked with all the good players. We’ll play 7 –vs- 7 and goalies, 25 minute halfs, hopefully 11 per team (giving you 3 subs).
Game night should be decided on by end of March, we’re still working with COSA to get Monday nights as first choice, then Sunday late afternoons, then our third choice is Friday nights. Most people who have responded to the Poll have chosen Monday nights as top choice.
Please check our blog for the latest info vineyardfc.blogspot.com
Thanks,
Vfc Soccer Board
Vfc news 3/19
We have been receiving lots of emails with interest in the league! We're up to 62 emails and contacts. However, we are looking to fill 8 teams of around 11 players each. Please send this email and the blog address to anyone whom you feel may be interested in playing.
Indoor starts in two Fridays, the 29th, it's free and just pick up games to get us in shape for Outdoor.
Outdoor starts the first week of May. We're still working with COSA on Mondays or Fridays. There's even talk of Sunday late afternoons, before Joshua House services, of course.
This league is recreational, and co-ed (men and women play together) and it's for all skill levels. If you haven't played a single minute of soccer you're still welcome and if you played in the World Cup you can come play.
We still plan to play 7 vs 7 plus goalies. Hopefully, each team will have a few subs. We play on a smaller field than regulation. We will have referees, and two time slots each week starting around 6:45 and 7:45 pm.
Here's the blog address - vineyardfc.blogspot.com and one of our contact emails - jluttrel@insight.rr.com. Please pass this on to anyone in your small groups or the office who might want to play.
Deadline for signing up is April 27th, we'll have sign-up forms and collect the fees for Outdoor at the Indoor pick-up game nights and at Joshua House services.

JHouse announcement
Indoor is totally FREE and 1st come 1st play, we'll get you some playing time though, just show up.
Outdoor will have official referees, so there will be a small fee and a waiver to sign before the first game.
DEADLINE for OUTDOOR will be April 27th! So don't procrastinate.

Indoor and Outdoor Soccer 2008
Hello from VinyeardFC. We are Ken, Katie, Susannah, Chris, Tersio, Kerry and Jamie. Check out our blog at vineyardfc.blogspot.com for all the latest news as it changes (we’re currently updating it too from last year).
Your name was included on this email list b/c we thought you might be wanting to play some SOCCER! Woohoo! We know it’s snowing outside right now but as soon as the weather breaks we want to get the leagues started again like last year.
Please give us your opinion on what night you would like to play? MONDAY OR FRIDAY, reply to this email
CO-ED INDOOR – We are playing pick up soccer on Friday nights starting March 28th in the VCC Community Center from 6:30ish till 9:30ish. It’s not a league, it’s free and it’s mainly for getting you signed up on a team for outdoor league. Bring your gear, get in shape and fill out the applications for outdoor leagues or you might get left behind.
The Indoor pick up games and the Outdoor seasons are for anyone over 18yrs old, from beginners to pro status, so tell your friends.
CO-ED OUTDOOR – It starts in May, but if the weather’s good in April we’ll be playing p/u games on random nights/days, just check the blog.
This year:
we’ll have 2 seasons May thru July and July thru Sept. (BREATHE weekend , July 18th, will be our break week and we’ll have an Open Mini-Tourney at Breathe on Saturday)
COSA is providing Referees. COSA is the group that manages the fields, so they’ll be official ref’s.
Game times will be later than last year, probably 6:45 and 7:45, so you can make it after work.
Price will be determined soon, but it will be as cheap as possible, probably around $30.
We’re deciding between Monday nights and Friday nights, which would you prefer?.
We’ll need team captains if you’re interested.
Shinguards are required, cleats are not, but recommended.
